Introduction
Mrs. Pankau with an Icelandic horse

I am a National Board Certified Teacher in Early Adolescent Mathematics, which includes 6th grade math to Algebra 2. This is my fifth year teaching at Capital High School, but my 27th year in the Olympia School District. Prior to coming here I taught math--including algebra and geometry--at Washington and Reeves Middle Schools for ten years each with a two-year stint as a professional development specialist for the district office in between. I finally decided to graduate from middle school and chose Capital because of the great things I had heard about the students and teachers here. While it was a bit of an adjustment to teach at a larger school, I am happy with my decision and really enjoy helping older students understand math. I live on a small farm outside of Olympia with my husband (also an educator), where we keep horses and chickens and grow our own hay. My interests include traveling, gardening, cooking, reading, running, dancing, skiing, and trail riding and camping with my horse.
