Senior Exit Interview

CAPITAL HIGH SCHOOL SENIOR EXIT INTERVIEW
STUDENT EXPECTATION AND INSTRUCTIONS

The High School and Beyond Plan is a graduation requirement at Capital High School. In order for students to “walk” at graduation and receive their diploma they must successfully complete their High School and Beyond Plan. The HSBP concludes with a senior exit interview. The interview concentrates on the student’s career and life goals. The interview is meant to exhibit the student’s creative ability, critical thinking and communication skills while demonstrating a clear understanding of the essential activities needed to achieve their goals. Our goal is also to give seniors an experience that will be similar to situations you may encounter once you leave CHS to enter the workforce, college or other options during your life.

The interview lasts approximately 15 minutes. During the interview, you will be expected to reference the information in your HSBP stored in Career Cruising. This information will help you answer the three guiding questions we ask students every year:

            Who am I?

What then can I become?   See the rubric for details on how to answer these questions.

            How do I become that?

Each senior will interview with one to two adults, which may include CHS staff, OSD staff or community members. Scoring of the final section of your HSBP, which includes your interview, is based on a total possible score of 100. Seniors must earn a score of 71 or above and Meet or Exceed Standard in the interview process in order to PASS. If you score lower than 71 or your interview is Below or Approaching Standard, you will be re-scheduled for another interview or assistance provided where needed.

As a reminder, you must be at 95% in your Career Cruising account by the end of 1st semester to receive full completion credit. Interviews will not be scheduled until you are at 95%. The final copy of your resume and cover letter need to be uploaded into the Career Cruising account so it can be graded prior to your interview. Yes, we read each and every one of them!
