CHS 16th Annual Giving Tree - Donations Needed
Target gift card donations are now being accepted for our annual CHS Giving Tree to assist our students in need.
For the past 18 years, the staff, students, and community of Capital High School have spread holiday cheer to those in need through the CHS Giving Tree. Your donations go toward the purchase of gift cards for CHS students just in time for the holidays. With your donations, we will purchase $50 Target gift cards to give to each student who will benefit.
How to give: Please bring $50 Target gift cards to the main office or use this direct link (sponsored by our CHS Parent Organization) to donate: https://givebutter.com/capital-high-school-2026-giving-tree-rsouze

Thank you for your generous support of our Coug Family!
CHS Trunk or Treat
We will be hosting our 2nd annual Trunk-or-Treat on Saturday, October 31st. We are looking for clubs, athletic teams and activity groups to fill a parking space and hand out candy (groups provide their own candy). The event will be from 1pm-3pm in the upper parking lot. Talk to Mrs Turcotte or Mrs Federico if your group is interested in participating. And, spread the word to our community to come trick-or-treat with us!
Library Updates
Thank you to the Olympia Education Foundation for generously funding our annual Battle of the Books. The books are ready, so it's time for battle teams to sign up. If your kiddo enjoyed it at the elementary or middle school level, encourage them to put together a team of 2 - 4 people or come to the library to sign up as a free agent. Battles begin in March, so there's plenty of time to read or listen to our books, which include: Artifice, Darius the Great is Not Okay, The Girl Who Fell From the Sky, The Great Gatsby, How to Say Goodbye in Cuban, Killers of the Flower Moon, The Knife of Never Letting Go, and Thieves' Gambit.
IB News
IB Exam Registration is open from now until November 10th. (Registration is still possible after this date, but late fees apply).
Students can pick up registration forms from their IB teachers. Applications are also available in the main office, the ASB Office, or from the IB Coordinator, Ms. Young in B-6 and the IB Office outside of Pod A.
If you have any questions, reach out to classroom teachers or email the IB Coordinator, Amelia Young, at ayoung@osd.wednet.edu.
CHS Food Drive
Our CHS Food Drive will happen November 16th-24th. All students are encouraged to bring in donations of nonperishable food items and cash or check donations to the Advisory teacher. We will have a schoolwide competition to see which advisory can bring in the most donations. All food collected will be donated to the Thurston County Food Bank and our CHS Food Pantry. More information will come soon!
Arts Center: 2707 Conger Ave NW, Olympia, WA 98502.

CHSPO News
Your small but mighty CHSPO (CHS Parent Organization) team has been busy working on a few exciting events:
1. Teacher Grants
We received several grant requests from our teachers to help support their classroom with additional textbooks, equipment and supplies. Please help us fund the grants by donating to CHSPO via the below link:
https://givebutter.com/chspo-donation-h91bzf
2. Graduation Night 2027
This seems like a distant future now, but we know time will fly and June 15th will be here before we know it. CHSPO has started some planning efforts and similar to prior years the event will be funded by the tickets sold. Please purchase your tickets to help us plan headcount and venue. Scholarships will be provided for students who cannot afford the ticket price. Please join the CHSPO meetings to help plan and execute the actual event.
