CHS Literary Magazine
The CHS Literary Magazine is in production! Pre-Order you copy today for $30 here. Our launch event is scheduled for Thursday, May 28th at Rhythms Coffee House. Save the date! Come here students read their published pieces from the book! You can find more information about how to donate to our cause, submit your work, or purchase prior issues on the website here. Leadership Updates
Coug Exchange, our very own thrift shop here at CHS had a hugely successful Free Friday last week! We are now transitioning out of our winter clothing and starting to put out spring and summer items. If you have any spring/summer items that you would like to donate we would love to have them! We also are in need of semi formal dresses and mens wear for our upcoming Tolo dance. You can bring donations to the main office or E-1.
Tolo, our annual spring semi-formal dance, will be taking place on Saturday, March 21st. The dance will be in the main gym from 7pm-9:30pm. The Beach Bash will be a blast. Tickets will go on sale in the ASB office on Monday, March 2nd. They are $15 each for students with an ASB card and $20 without an ASB card. Students on free and reduced lunch can get their free ticket at the ASB office.
We need parent chaperones to help out at the event. Please email Katie Turcotte if you are able to help chaperone! kturcotte@osd.wednet.edu
CHS Booster Club
Capital Booster Club meeting Tuesday, March 3, at 6:00pm. The meeting this month is at a special location - Vic's Pizzeria Westside (233 Division St NW). The Booster Club supports all WIAA sports and activities through fundraising, services and community spirit! There are many exciting ways to get involved. Come find out how you can help grow our school programs and lead our students to succeed. Go Cougs!
Prevention Night
Please join us on March 2nd for Prevention Night, a free community event designed to support parents, caregivers, educators, and anyone working with youth. This evening will focus on emerging risks facing young people today, including social media challenges, substance use trends, and practical strategies families and communities can use to keep youth safe and supported.
We’re excited to feature two national experts:
- Dr. Sameer Hinduja – Youth online behavior, cyberbullying, and digital safety
- Jermaine Galloway (“Tall Cop”) – Emerging substance trends and prevention strategies

Counseling Center Updates
All returning CHS students should be completing their registration for next year's classes. Use this LINK for details.
All 11th graders will want to make an appointment with their counselor to discuss credits and ensure registration for next year is in order.
Donations Needed
We are in need of nonperishable food items for families utilizing our new CHS pantry. If you are able, please drop off these items at our main office. We appreciate our wonderful CHS community and the amazing support of our new pantry!
If your family is in need of food or hygiene products, please stop by the main office Monday through Friday between 8:30 a.m. and 3:30 p.m. to visit our CHS Pantry!
Yearbooks Available for Purchase
Yearbooks are available for purchase at School Store website. The deadline for purchase is June 6th.
I.B. News
IB exam scores derive from both spring exams AND in-class assignments that get submitted to IB. Often these are called Internal Assessments (IAs). Because these are weighty, teachers work together to create a schedule of strict deadlines to ensure students are not overwhelmed any one week. While these assignments often have process and draft deadlines, no student should have more than one final IB assignment due in a single week.
In the second semester specifically, there is some kind of major deadline almost every week. Stay tuned to this section to know when your student might have a major deadline or an exam.

Community Connections
During the month of February, we are featuring resources and community partners who support youth and families experiencing grief and loss.
- Mary Bridge Center for Grieving Children
- The Mary Bridge Center supports families with children who are grieving the death of a family member. They also offer the Discoveries Program to support families who are coping with a serious diagnosis. For more information please complete the contact form and a team member will reach out to you.
- Wild Grief: Go Outside. Go Together. Go Through it
- Wild Grief provides free peer support programs in nature to grieving youth, families, and people of all ages.
- 2026 Program Dates
- Camp Rosey - Tahoma Indian Center
- Camp Rosey is our free-of-charge youth camp that focuses on supporting our sacred youth in their healing journeys through grief and loss.
- Camp Rosey Interest Form - Application is open
- Camp Erin - Tacoma
- Camp Erin is a free weekend bereavement camp for youth grieving the death of a significant person in their lives. Children and teens ages 6 to 17 attend a weekend camp experience that combines grief education and emotional support with fun, traditional camp activities. Camp Erin is held at Camp Seymour, located 22 miles west of Tacoma.

JUNIORS have the opportunity to go on a COLLEGE PLANNING DAY on March 23rd. It is on a first come first serve basis. Please have your Junior come into the CCRC to get a field trip form.
