CHS Little Cougar Boys Basketball
Little Cougar basketball is a recreational basketball league for West Olympia area boys in grades 3-6. The emphasis is on sportsmanship, having fun, and allowing all to participate. Our goal is to give our future CHS Cougars a chance to learn basketball fundamentals and develop skills through practice and games. Every boy will receive a Little Cougar reversible jersey, a basketball, instruction at weekly practices, and lots of encouragement. Registration is Saturday, October 21st and Saturday, October 28th from 9 to Noon in the Capital High School main entrance lobby. Registrations can also be turned in (during school hours 8:30 a.m.-3:45 p.m.) at the Capital ASB Office. If you have any questions, please contact Brian Vandiver at

Capital High School Parent Organization
Attention Parents!
- The Capital High School Parent Organization needs your help. CHSPO is a nonprofit dedicated to supporting the students and staff at CHS. Major projects include the Grad Night event, Holiday Giving Tree, staff appreciation and more. All parents and voices are welcome. There are many opportunities to volunteer.
- CHSPO is also a great communication channel between Capital parents and school administrators.

CHS Golf Fundraiser
Want to play a little golf to benefit the Capital High School golf? Then come help support the Capital Girl’s and Boy’s golf teams by spending a fall afternoon playing the Olympia Country and Golf Club. Anyone interested in playing on a team is welcome. The event is October 7th at 1pm. The golf teams are fundraising to help both teams for the upcoming season this spring. It’s a four person scramble and dinner. It should be a perfect fall afternoon, so we would greatly appreciate your participation and support. ASB/Athletics Office
Students: remember the ASB/Athletics Office is available before and after school, ten minute break and at both lunches. We do not help students during class time.
Prom/Homecoming Outfit Donations
We are collecting homecoming and prom outfit donations. Collections will be held until October 2nd for homecoming. Please bring any donations to the Counseling Center.
CHS Student Parking Pass
- All students attending CHS will need to have a parking pass on their car. This is a safety issue and we will be enforcing parking passes starting October 2.
- If you have purchased an ASB Card the parking pass is free.
- Students without an ASB Card the parking pass is $5.
- Stop by the ASB/Athletic Office to pick up an application while parking passes are still available and avoid getting a fine.
Counseling Center News
Seniors will be meeting with their school counselor in a one-on-one appointment between 9/21 - 9/29. Seniors should have already signed up for their appointment, but there is still time! Encourage your senior to read their email or make an appointment with their counselor on our site:

CHS Library
The CHS Library Hours are 8:30 - 4:00 Monday - Friday, including Wednesday early release days. The library is also where students can bring Chromebooks with tech issues. We look forward to providing a welcoming comfortable space to your students this school year.

CHS Girls Bowling Team
- Have Fun! Improve your game! Hang out with nice people!
- Girls' Bowling is a Winter Sport open to all grades 9-12.
- If you are interested, drop by and introduce yourself to Coach Deakins in Room A12.
- Pre-season Team Meeting will be Thursday, September 26 right after school.
Washington State Fair Tickets
Students may pick up their free Washington State Fair ticket in the main office before school, during break, lunch time, and after school.

School Social Worker
Kim Senger is the Olympia School District Social Worker assigned to Capital High School. She can provide students and families with community and school based connections such as mental health referrals and resource navigation. Kim works in collaboration with our school counselors, administration, families/caregivers and community organizations to remove barriers and create equitable opportunities for student success. If families.caregivers or students have any questions, please don’t hesitate to call her or your students counselor.

Sea Mar Community Health Center
In an effort to support student wellbeing and mental health, Olympia School District has a partnership with Sea Mar Community Health Centers to provide mental health services. A Mental Health Therapist with Sea Mar will be onsite at Capital High School to provide ongoing therapy to students who are enrolled in their services. Sea Mar is able to accept clients who have Washington Apple Health plans. If you or your student is interested in hearing more about this service, please direct questions to your school counselor or Kim Senger, School Social Worker, at 360-239-7413 or [email protected].
College Fair
Attention Juniors and Seniors:
Thurston County PNACAC College Fair is going to be at Saint Martin’s University in Lacey, On October 4th 2023 from 6pm-8pm. It is Free and open to the public, PNACAC fairs connect you with colleges and universities in one convenient location. YOU ARE NOT GOING TO WANT TO MISS THIS EVENT. CHS Open House - September 27th
CHS open house is scheduled for families on September 27th at 5:30 p.m. More information will be emailed to parents and guardians next week.
Senior Information Night - September 27th
Senior Information Night will begin at 5:00 pm in the PAC on September 27th, prior to the CHS Open House. Seniors and their parents are welcome to attend.
College and Career Readiness Center News
- The College and Career Readiness Center (CCRC) is up and running. We will start having College visits in the CCRC starting next week. Please have your students review the College Visits in Naviance where they can then register for the events. The visits will be held in the CCRC, during their lunch.
- Attention Junior and Senior Parents/Guardians and Students: There are two College Fair opportunities coming up that are off CHS campus:
- The first opportunity will be the Thurston County Regional College Fair; it will be held at St. Martins University on October 4th 2023 from 6pm-8pm. For more information, here is the link: https://www.pnacac.org/tco-fair
- The second opportunity is the National College Fair and this will be held in Seattle on October 6th and 7th 2023. For more information, here is the link.
- College Visits the week of September 25th-29th will be hosted in the CCRC during lunches. The Following College visits are:
- Portland State University on Tuesday 9-26
- Willamette University on Wednesday 9-27
- University of Arizona on Friday 9-29

Alternative Lunch Space
Starting September 12th - Capitol High School will be opening an alternative space during lunches for students who are seeking a quiet space to enjoy their lunch period. The “Alternative Space” will be open on Tuesdays and Thursdays, during both lunches, and located in E-1 next to the student store.
