WHAT IS THE HIGH SCHOOL AND BEYOND PLAN?

The High School and Beyond Plan process is a graduation requirement that supports students in exploring their interests, planning high school coursework that is aligned to those interests, keeping track of major assessment scores, and logging work and other relevant experience. Again this year we will be using the Naviance platform to track the HSBP. Please remember that the HSBP is a graduation requirement mandated by the state of Washington.

The requirements to fulfill this plan include specific tasks for each grade level and a concluding senior exit interview.

SENIOR EXIT INTERVIEW

The HSBP concludes with a  senior exit interview. The interview concentrates on the student’s career and life goals. The interview is meant to exhibit the student’s creative ability, critical thinking and communication skills while demonstrating a clear understanding of the essential activities needed to achieve their goals. Our goal is to give seniors an experience that will be similar to situations you may encounter once leaving CHS to enter the workforce, college or other options during your life.

What to Remember About Your Interview:

  • Go over the rubric before the interview. See a copy of the rubric HERE.
  • The interview lasts approximately 15 minutes.
  • You answer the three guiding questions we ask students every year:

                Who am I?

                What then can I become?

                How do I become that?

  • Each senior will interview with one to two adults, which may include CHS staff, OSD staff or community members.

  • Read & review your plan. Make note cards for yourself if needed.
  • Dress to impress. Professional dress is recommended.
  • Eye contact & clear voice.
  • Introduce yourself when you walk into the interview.
