CHSPO News

Hello CHS parents,

The Capital High School Parent Organization (CHSPO) is reaching out with an urgent request: we need more parent volunteers.

Currently, only 5–8 parents regularly participate—and 3 of them have seniors who will be graduating this year. Without new involvement, especially in board positions, we may not be able to continue the vital support we provide to CHS staff, teachers, and students.

What Does CHSPO Do?

We’re a 100% parent-run, non-profit group, and we rely entirely on the support of CHS families to make a meaningful impact. Some of the ways we support our school community include:

  • Teacher & Staff Grants – for classroom supplies and other essential materials
  • Senior Grad Night Party – a safe and fun celebration for graduating seniors
  • Teacher/Staff Appreciation Lunches – to recognize and thank our dedicated educators

Don’t Have Much Time? That’s Okay!

We know how busy life can be—we’re parents too, juggling work, school activities, and everything in between. But here’s the good news: any level of involvement helps. Most roles require minimal time commitment, and even pitching in for an hour here and there can make a real difference.

Want to Learn More?

Join us at our next CHSPO meeting! We’ll be reviewing and approving fall teacher/staff grant requests, and we’d love for you to attend, ask questions, and see what we’re all about.

Next CHSPO Meeting: October 21st

  • 6:00 pm in CHS Library (enter school from front door)

We also wanted to share a few upcoming fundraisers that will benefit CHS programs and events:

  • October 10 – MOD Pizza (Westside location): Support the Class of 2026 Grad Night by dining at MOD Pizza. Just mention the fundraiser or show the flyer when ordering. Mod Pizza Fundraiser
  • October 18 – Red Robin (Westside location): Grab dinner at Red Robin before the Homecoming Dance and support CHSPO! Be sure to mention the fundraiser or show the flyer when you order. Red Robin Fundraiser

Please see information regarding our Senior 2026 Grad Night and our Clean Out Your Closet Fundraiser.

Warmly,
Capital High School Parent Organization (CHSPO)

THEATRE PROUDLY PRESENTS

SENSE AND SENSIBILITY

By Kate Hamill

Based upon Jane Austen’s novel ‘Sense and Sensibility’

Jane Austen’s Sense and Sensibility will be sweeping Capital High School off its feet on October 23rd, 24th, and 25th!

SUMMARY

Jane Austen’s beloved story of sisterhood, scandal, and romance is brought to the stage with Kate Hamill’s adaptation that sparkles with warmth and wit. When the Dashwood sisters’ father dies and leaves them none of the inheritance, they are forced to move out to the English countryside. It is there that they experience love and heartbreak on a never-before-seen scale, trying the contrasting sisters of Elinor- whose reason guides her through love and loss- and Marianne- whose passionate spirit embraces romance with abandon. Winner of critical acclaim across the stage, this period drama captures the essence of 1700s England with timeless themes of loyalty, love, and the search for balance between sense and sensibility.

  • October 24th: 7 PM (Friday)
