  • 9th and 11th graders have study hall opportunities in the Library and Lecture hall.
  • 12th graders have the Senior Exit Interviews scheduled during the testing block
  • 10th graders need their fully-charged Chromebook and a regular book to read after they finish. There are no electronic devices allowed during the testing block, including smart watches and Chromebooks in normal mode (there is a special testing mode that students will use during the test).

Normal classes begin at 11:55 and each period will be 25 minutes long. Please encourage your student to get a good night's rest and a good breakfast on test day. Normal breakfast services will be available in the Commons before the testing block begins at 8:55 (normal school time).

CHS Arts Night

May 20th

PAC Lobby

5:00-7:30

Arts Night is a time for the Capital community to recognize and celebrate the work students have completed in the field of visual arts. Part gallery show; part art sale; many students will have personal works on display, while others will be hosting product booths. Stop by to see what students are saying with their artwork, and take home an original work to keep forever. All sales go directly to the student artist.

Come join us for an evening of celebration.

Community Connections

May is Mental Health Awareness  Month

May is Mental Health Awareness Month, an annual observance established by Mental Health America in 1949. This month aims to raise awareness about mental well-being, educate the public, reduce stigma, and encourage support for those affected by mental health conditions. Schools play a vital role in promoting the well-being of students through education, prevention, and early intervention. We encourage you to explore the resources below for local and national support.

If you or your family are struggling or in need of additional support or resources, please contact your school and request the assistance of the school social worker or school counselor. We’re here to support you.

West Olympia Rotary

West Olympia Rotary looking for host families for an Inbound exchange student next school year.  West Olympia Rotary has a history of sponsoring Capital HS inbound and outbound exchange students.  This year the club is helping sponsor a girl from Brazil and will sponsor a CHS junior girl for exchange in Belgium next year. To complete the “exchange” our club needs to host a student from an overseas country (TBD).  Usually we line up 3 families to host for 3-4 months each during the school year.  This is an excellent opportunity for a family to learn about another culture, and for the incoming student to immerse themselves in the day to day life of an American family.  Host families can be reassured that their family and the student will be supported by the Rotary Club.  The student will receive a monthly stipend.  According to US Dept of State regulations, host families cannot be paid to host.

Host families need to be vetted, so please contact one of the following Rotarians as soon as possible if interested.

If you think your family might be interested in hosting an inbound foreign exchange student for 3 months during the 2025-26 academic year, please contact Dirk Havlak at 360-791-2315, [email protected], or Attila Talaber at 360-791-3310, [email protected]

Upcoming Events

Upcoming Events are found in SchooLinks on the HOME DASHBOARD under EVENTS. Please have your students register for upcoming events or have them swing by the CCRC to ask how to get involved.
