  • Baseball, Softball, Boys and Girls Golf, Girls Tennis, Boys and Girls Track, Boys Soccer.
  • First practice is March 3, must be registered by March 2 @ 5pm to participate in first practice.

 

March Madness Food Drive

Capital Leadership is organizing a March Madness Food Drive! Staff will be going head to head each week starting with a round of 64 and ending with a Champion.

Students and Staff should bring in canned or packaged food to their 1st period teacher. If staff have 1st period planning, they will be playing with their 2nd period class. No cash donations this time.

The competition begins March 17th and runs through April 30th. 

 

March Madness Food Drive Point System

  • 1 point: Individual meals – Top Ramen, Cup Noodles, 1 serving mac & cheese etc. (Ex: 10 pack of Cup Noodles = 10 points), canned fruit and vegetables, small boxed snacks (12 ct) – fruit snacks, granola bars, rice Krispies, etc.
  • 2 points: Mac & cheese box (2.5 servings), canned soup (2 servings), bread/cake mix
  • 3 points: Large Boxed Snacks (40+ count) – Fruit snacks, granola bars, rice Krispies, etc.
  • 4 points: High Need/Priority Items – Peanut Butter, canned meat/fish, canned beans, pasta, rice, cereal (4 servings)
  • -1 Point: Expired foods

*Individual packaged goods not in original box (granola bars, fruit snacks, chips) will not be counted toward your score.

*Each individual item can only max out to 4 points.

 

World Language Proficiency Testing

Library News

If you have a student who loves to write or listen to authors talk about their craft, they should sign up to attend Cavalcade of Authors West on Saturday, April 26th. Registration closes on March 21st.  This is a unique chance to meet with at least 5 published authors.  The cost is $20 but transportation is provided. Email Mrs. Bonds, [email protected], for registration details or more information.

Capital Theatre Classes Proudly presents a Night of One Acts

On Friday, March 14th at 7pm in the Capital High School Performing Arts Center. Come see the work that each of these classes are doing.

 

3rd Period Improv Presents: Haters by Don Zolidis

When a struggling recycling drive receives a promise visit by Taylor Swift, the entire school gets behind the efforts. What can possibly go wrong when everyone works together for this lofty goal?

 

4th Period Intro to Theatre Presents: OZ by Don Zolidis

After the death of her sister, Beth, who is consumed with guilt, is thrown into Oz to encounter her own personal journey of discovery. She encounters her own version of the Lion, Scarecrow, Tin Man, Witches, and the Wizard on her way to making peace with her loss.

 

6th Period Advanced Theatre Presents: Too Many Detectives at the Murder Mansion by Ian McWethy

Madame Doyle has invited special guests to her annual gala and fundraiser at the Doyle Museum; however, when an unexpected murder occurs, who will be the primary suspect: Sherlock Holmes, The Hardy Boys, or perhaps Scooby Doo and his Mystery Crew? This comedic spoof on the mystery genre will kill you in laughter!

 

Donations will be accepted at the door to help offset the cost of scripts, rights, and royalties.

Community Connections

The Olympia Education Foundation is hosting an in person event on Wednesday, March 19th from 6:30pm-8pm at the Ashho Cultural Community Center (5757 Littlerock Rd. SW #4, Tumwater, WA) as part of their well-being speaker series.  This event presents Dr. Bre Haizlip with the topic: Mental Health is Generational Wealth.  Please register for this event at the Olympia Education Foundation Student & community well-being webpage.


In March, we are highlighting agencies that support families and students with developmental disabilities and promote gender equity.


 

Developmental Disabilities Ombuds

The Office of the Developmental Disabilities Ombuds (DD Ombuds) is a private, independent office focused on improving the lives of persons with developmental disabilities in Washington State.

 

Thurston County Specialized Recreation

Thurston County Specialized Recreation offers a variety of engaging activities in collaboration with Olympia, Lacey, and Tumwater. Tailored for individuals with developmental and/or physical disabilities, but open to individuals of all abilities, this program fosters growth, community integration, and friendship. Through shared experiences, participants build self-esteem, independence, and lasting connections. Most activities are suitable for those aged 16 and above unless otherwise specified. 

 

YWCA Olympia

YWCA Olympia is focused on our mission of eliminating racism and sexism to advance the social, political, and economic status of all women and girls. All of our activities place the leadership and wisdom of Women of Color at the center. We do this while also seeking to engage people of all genders, races, classes, and abilities in the collective work of the YWCA’s vision: All People are valued, live free from oppression, and thrive in a just society.

 

Spring Fling Tolo Dance

Tolo Dance Information

  • Tolo will be Saturday, March 15th from 8-10:30pm at Capital High School Commons
  • Must have ID and ticket for entry into dance. No entry after 8:30 p.m. and no re-entry.
  • Students can purchase tickets before and after school, ten minute break and at lunch. Tickets will NOT be sold at the dance.
  • Tickets are sold individually
  • $15 with ASB 
  • $20 without ASB
  • Last day to purchase tickets is Friday, March 14th, 2024, 3:45.
  • If you are taking a guest to Tolo, please make sure and submit a completed Guest Pass form. Turn in the completed form with a guest ID to the front office.  Guest pass forms are in the Main Office, ASB Office and Athletics Office.  
  • Completed Guest pass forms are due by Wednesday, March 12th.
  • We are looking for volunteers to help chaperone the dance. Please email [email protected]. It's a really fun time and a great way to get involved in our school community!

SchooLinks (All Students)

  • Please continue to remind your students to work on completing their High School and Beyond Plan tasks in SchooLinks. They can access this through the OSD Portal under Curriculum. All Seniors must be completed with their To Do List and HSBP before they do their Senior Exit Interview. All other students must be completed by the end of May.
