CHS Booster Club Auction

The Capital High School Booster Club is excited to announce our HUGE online Auction from April 30th to May 10th at 5 pm.  The CHS Booster Club supports all Capital sports teams, performing arts programs, and the debate team through fundraising efforts.  Not only will we be offering specialty baskets donated by CHS sports teams and performing arts groups, we will also have a variety of other exciting experiences and unique items for bidding: 

  • Graduation Ceremony tickets
  • Professional personal color evaluation
  • Estate Planning gift certificate
  • Full page senior yearbook add for 2027
  • 2-night stay in a private cabin in Packwood
  • Class in building your own Live Plant Terrarium
  • Be Principal for a Day
  • Year of FREE Botox
  • Year of Parking next to CHS baseball fields

**One special basket from the Theater Program will include tickets to the final night of the spring musical performance of Frozen, a VIP tour, Frozen the Musical Poster, and other Frozen swag – this basket auction will end on May 4th!


And the highlight of this year’s auction is the unique opportunity to bid on mini-internships for a high school student.  These one-day shadowing opportunities will give students access to and insight into a profession of their choice.  There are several to bid on, and each one is different.  


After the auction, students can enter the free lottery for a mini-internship spot, which will be drawn on June 1st.

Running Start Information  

Dear Students and Families,

For 2026–2027 Running Start students:

A new Running Start Contract is required before Counselors sign your verification form. CLICK HERE for the new contract.

Submit it by emailing your counselor or dropping it off at the Counseling Center.

 

Key updates:

  • New verification form required before registration (deadline: May 11)
  • Full-time SPSCC students (15 credits) may take one CHS class only
  • Campus access is limited for Running Start students to approved times/activities (see contract)

News from the CCRC

 

ALL STUDENTS

High School and Beyond Plan

  • Each grade level will be required to complete tasks yearly to maintain a record of research and planning for life after high school. Tasks are assigned to students via SchooLinks, and lessons are taught during High School & Beyond Plan lessons during English classes.
  • The High School and Beyond Plan is a Washington State Graduation Requirement, and CANNOT be waived. 
  • If a student fails to complete their HSBP requirement, they will not graduate.

SENIORS

  • April 24th - University of Utah College Visit in CCRC at 9 am-9:30 am
  • May 1st - NATIONAL DECISION DAY! Seniors will have the opportunity to sign their College/Career decision poster in the Commons during lunch and get some cake, because we know you have worked hard to make these decisions.
  • May 12th and 14th - SENIOR EXIT INTERVIEWS-these were scheduled with Mrs. Smith in the CCRC. If you do not remember your time or have not scheduled your interview, you need to do that today! The Senior Exit Interview is part of your graduation requirements.
  • Senior Exit Interviews are the final step of a student’s High School and Beyond Plan (HSBP). During these 10 minutes, student-led interviews, students will answer three guiding questions: (1) Who Are You? (2) What Can You Become? (3) How Will You Become That? 

To prepare, you can:

  • Complete all SCHOOLINKS Tasks
  • Have your resume ready
  • Review the rubric
  • Prepare an outfit
  • Practice what you’ll say!

UNDERSTANDING FINANCIAL AID AWARDS


9th-11th GRADE STUDENTS

It's never too early to talk with college representatives about their institution. Here are some Spring Fairs that you can sign up to attend on your own. PNACAC SPRING COLLEGE FAIRS-Free and open to the public. Pick the city and fair you want to attend and then register for this event. 

 

Senior Prom - May 30th

Senior Prom will be on Saturday, May 30th, from 8 pm-10:30 pm at the Lacey Community Center. This Midnight Masquerade will be a night filled with dancing, photos and fun. Tickets will be available to purchase on Monday, May 11th. They are $30 with ASB and $35 w/o ASB. Students on free and reduced lunch will receive a free ticket from the ASB office. 

 

PSAT Accommodations for Next Year’s 11th Graders

If your 10th-grade student plans to take the PSAT next fall as an 11th grader and has a 504 plan or IEP, please review these instructions if you would like to request testing accommodations. Required paperwork should be submitted to your student’s counselor by May 15.  

 

State Testing on May 12 and 13

Sophomores and Juniors are scheduled to participate in required state testing on Tuesday, May 12, and Thursday, May 14, from 8:55 a.m. to 11:45 a.m. Tenth graders will take the Smarter Balanced Assessment (SBA), and Juniors will take the Washington Comprehensive Assessment of Science. These assessments are an important opportunity for students to demonstrate their learning and for our school to reflect on the strong work happening at Capital every day. Please help support your student in attending on both days.

 

Buses will run on a normal schedule, and regular classes will be held from 11:55 a.m. to 3:25 p.m.  During the testing block, ninth-grade students will have enrichment and study hall opportunities in the Lecture Hall and Library. Seniors will participate in scheduled Senior Exit Interviews during that time.

IB exams start Tuesday, April 28th, and run until May 20th.


  • You can find testing information in the IB section of the CHS website, specifically, at the 2026 IB Exam Schedule.
  • If you have any questions about the exams, reach out to your student's teacher.
  • BUDGET 35 MINUTES EXTRA FOR EACH EXAM FOR LOGISTICS

Community Connections

Did you know that April is Autism Acceptance Month? 


Previously known as Autism Awareness Month, Autism Acceptance prioritizes the diversity and inclusion of people with autism. 


Local Resources include:

  • South Sound Parent to Helping Parent Program offers emotional support, community resources, peer mentorship, family events, assistance in navigating complex health systems, educational opportunities, and guidance to parents/caregivers raising children with disabilities. Contact SSP2P at 360-352-1126.
  • Thurston County Inclusion hosts camps and events for children ages 5-22, providing peer connections and inclusive, accessible programming. Registration begins in April for TCI summer camps- find out more on their website.
  • Olympia Schools Supportive Education Council is a collective of caregivers, teachers, & staff advocating for OSD students receiving support services. Check out their Facebook page for more information on upcoming events.
  • Autism Acres is a nonprofit dedicated to providing a free, safe, and comfortable play environment for people and families affected by special needs.
  • Informing Families is a resource for families and caregivers. They provide information on IEP preparation, life after high school, navigating relationships, positive behavior support, understanding the service system, and issues for those with a dual diagnosis of developmental disability and mental illness.

Capital High School Theatre Proudly Presents Disney’s Frozen

Based on the hit Disney film, Capital Theatre is finding its one and only true love with the smash musical Disney’s FROZEN!


SUMMARY

 

Based on the Disney film, this staged production brings even more music and magic to the story of Princesses Elsa and Anna. When Princess Elsa is crowned queen of Arendelle, she can no longer contain her magical icy powers, sending the entire countryside into eternal winter. In an attempt to save the people, she makes a daring escape into the mountains. Her sister Anna treks off on a quest with intrepid explorer Kristoff, stoic reindeer Sven, and magical snowman Olaf to find her. Come and see this story of redemption, courage, and what it truly means to love, a fantastic time for the entire family!
