News from the CCRC

 

ALL STUDENTS

High School and Beyond Plan

  • Each grade level will be required to complete tasks yearly to maintain a record of research and planning for life after high school. Tasks are assigned to students via SchooLinks, and lessons are taught during High School & Beyond Plan lessons during English classes.
  • The High School and Beyond Plan is a Washington State Graduation Requirement, and CANNOT be waived. 
  • If a student fails to complete their HSBP requirement, they will not graduate.

SENIORS

  • April 17th, 20th, 22, and 24th - Mrs. Smith will be in 9th grade English classes
  • April 24th - University of Utah College Visit in CCRC at 9am-9:30am
  • May 1st - NATIONAL DECISION DAY! Seniors will have the opportunity to sign their College/Career decision poster in the Commons during lunches and get some cake because we know you have worked hard at making these decisions.
  • May 12th and 14th - SENIOR EXIT INTERVIEWS-these were scheduled with Mrs. Smith in the CCRC. If you do not remember your time or have not scheduled your interview-you need to do that today! The Senior Exit Interview is part of your graduation requirements.
  • Senior Exit Interviews are the final step of a student’s High School and Beyond Plan (HSBP). During these 10 minute, student-led interviews students will answer three guiding questions: (1) Who Are You? (2) What Can You Become? (3) How Will You Become That? 

To prepare, you can:

  • Complete all SCHOOLINKS Tasks
  • Have your resume ready
  • Review the rubric
  • Prepare an outfit
  • Practice what you’ll say!

UNDERSTANDING FINANCIAL AID AWARDS


9th-11th GRADE STUDENTS

It's never too early to talk with college representatives about their institution. Here are some Spring Fairs that you can sign up to attend on your own. PNACAC SPRING COLLEGE FAIRS-Free and open to the public. Pick the city and fair you want to attend and then register for this event. 

 

Senior Prom - May 30th

Senior Prom will be on Saturday, May 30th from 8pm-10:30pm at the Lacey Community Center. This Midnight Masquerade will be a night filled with dancing, photos and fun. Tickets will be available to purchase on Monday, May 11th. They are $30 with ASB and $35 w/o ASB. Students on free and reduced lunch will receive a free ticket and will get these from the ASB office. 


 

Exciting Opportunity to Host Japanese Students in May!

Capital High School is excited to host forty 9th grade students from Shukutoku Sugamo Jr. High School, a private school in Tokyo, Japan. We’re looking for host families to welcome these students into their homes for a memorable cultural exchange experience!

 

Here are the details:

  • Dates: From Friday, May 15th (pick-up at CHS after school) to Monday, May 18th (drop-off at CHS before school).
  • Hosting Requirements: Families must host 2 students (either 2 boys or 2 girls).
  • The students can share a room, but each must have a separate bed.
  • Stipend: Families will receive a stipend of $30 per student per night (a total of $180 per family for the weekend).
  • No Language Requirements: You don’t need to speak Japanese or have children attending Capital High School to participate. All families are welcome!
  • The students will be spending some time sightseeing in the Seattle area before visiting Capital High School. This is a wonderful opportunity to engage in a cultural exchange and create lasting memories!

If your family is interested in hosting, please fill out the Google Form.  We are looking for more families to host male students.

CHSPO Updates

 

Please join us for the next CHSPO meeting, where Superintendent Murphy will be in attendance. This is a great opportunity to hear district updates and ask any questions you may have.  We will also be discussing our open board positions, the upcoming staff appreciation luncheon, and other important agenda items. Everyone is welcome to attend.

 

The meeting will take place on April 21st in Capital High School's library, starting at 6:00 PM.

The CHSPO (Capital High School Parent Organization) is excited to host our 2nd Annual CHSPO Community Rummage Sale this Saturday, April 18th, 2026, from 8:00 AM to 1:00 PM.

 

Please see the linked flyer for full details.  All parking stall rental fees directly support teacher grants, staff appreciation, and other CHS student-related activities. 

 

Come out and support your teachers, peers, and the community! Multiple CHS students and staff, along with community members, will be running their own stalls, so there will truly be something for everyone.

 

We’re also excited to have Travelin’ Tom’s Coffee Truck and Kona Ice joining us at the event!

 

We look forward to seeing you there and appreciate your continued support of CHSPO and this community event.

IB exams start Tuesday April 28th and run until May 20th.


  • You can find testing information in the IB section of the CHS website, specifically, at 2026 IB Exam Schedule.
  • If you have any questions about the exams, reach out to your student's teacher.
  • BUDGET 35 MINUTES EXTRA FOR EACH EXAM FOR LOGISTICS

Community Connections

Did you know that April is Autism Acceptance Month? 


Previously known as Autism Awareness Month, Autism Acceptance prioritizes the diversity and inclusion of people with autism. 


Local Resources include:

  • South Sound Parent to Helping Parent Program offers emotional support, community resources, peer mentorship, family events, assistance in navigating complex health systems, educational opportunities, and guidance to parents/caregivers raising children with disabilities. Contact SSP2P at 360-352-1126.
  • Thurston County Inclusion hosts camps and events for children ages 5-22, providing peer connections and inclusive, accessible programming. Registration begins in April for TCI summer camps- find out more on their website.
  • Olympia Schools Supportive Education Council is a collective of caregivers, teachers, & staff advocating for OSD students receiving support services. Check out their Facebook page for more information on upcoming events.
  • Autism Acres is a nonprofit dedicated to providing a free, safe, and comfortable play environment for people and families affected by special needs.
  • Informing Families is a resource for families and caregivers. They provide information on IEP preparation, life after high school, navigating relationships, positive behavior support, understanding the service system, and issues for those with a dual diagnosis of developmental disability and mental illness.

ASB Officer Elections

Hey Cougs, if you are planning on running for an ASB officer position, the packets are ready to be picked up in E-1. Packets need to be completed and are due back to Mrs Turcotte by Friday, April 17th. Voting for ASB President, Vice President, Secretary and Treasurer will take place in Advisory on April 29th.


Link Crew! It is time to start planning for 8th grade tours. If you are currently a 25-26 Link Crew member and if you would like to be a Link Crew member for the 26-27 school year- that means all 9th, 10th and 11th graders, please attend the informational meeting during Coug Time A this Friday, April 17th in E-1.

SUMMARY

 

Based on the Disney film, this staged production brings even more music and magic to the story of Princesses Elsa and Anna. When Princess Elsa is crowned queen of Arendelle, she can no longer contain her magical icy powers and sends the entire countryside into eternal winter. In an attempt to save the people, she makes a daring escape into the mountains. Her sister Anna treks off on a quest with intrepid explorer Kristoff, stoic reindeer Sven, and magical snowman Olaf to find her. Come and see this story of redemption, courage, and what it truly means to love, a fantastic time for the entire family!
