Summer 2019 Construction Update

The school district opened bids in early May 2019 for the construction of a new 500-seat two-story Performing Arts Center. The new PAC gets underway on June 24 between the Commons and gym.

In addition to building the new theatre, school improvements include turning the existing Performing Arts Center into a lecture hall with seats on one side and a black box stage area on the other side.

Other projects include replacing the main building siding, reroofing portions of the school, replacing single-pane windows with double-pane windows, and adding a new air distribution system by replacing all heating and air-conditioning units while installing a new controls system.

Update Tuesday, June 25, 2019
On Wednesday, June 26, the fire lane at Capital High School will be blocked/inaccessible. There will be no access to the lower parking lots. Any users interested in accessing the building will need to do so from the upper parking lot and front entrance of the school.

If you are accessing the building, or grounds, for any reason please park in the upper lot and use the main entrance to enter the building. The main entrance to the school will be open by 7:30 a.m. on June 26. All other exterior doors to the building will be locked.

The fire lane will be available once again by Thursday, June 27.

Update Thursday, June 13, 2019

Contractors plan to move construction equipment on Monday, June 17 to the lower parking lot in preparation for work to begin on June 24. A construction fence encloses the equipment in the parking spaces closest to Conger Avenue on the northern edge of the lower parking lot, furthest away from the school.
