Library News

2025 is the second year for Olympia Reads!!, an Olympia School District program whose mission is to excite readers of all ages by connecting them with published authors and illustrators. Olympia Reads!! Is funded by the Olympia School District, with support from Timberland Regional Library and the Olympia Education Foundation. This year we are partnering with North Thurston Public Schools “Lacey Loves to Read” program to share the costs and logistics of hosting our author.

This year’s featured author is Varian Johnson (https://varianjohnson.com/). Varian Johnson is the author of several novels for children and young adults, including The Parker Inheritance, which won both Coretta Scott King Author Honor and Boston Globe/Horn Book Honor awards; The Great Greene Heist, an ALA Notable Children’s book and Kirkus Reviews Best Book; and the graphic novel Twins, illustrated by Shannon Wright, an NPR Best Book.

You are invited to join us at the free community presentation, co-hosted with Lacey Loves to Read,  at the James Koval Center for the Performing Arts, 4155 6th AVE NW, Lacey, WA 98506 from 6-8:00 p.m. next Thursday Feb 13th.

CHS Transfer Families

It's that time of year again to complete your annual Transfer request through the district office. If you live outside of CHS boundaries you MUST complete an annual transfer request. The 2026 Transfer request page for the 2025/2026 School year is now open. Completing this early is highly encouraged as this helps us better plan for staffing and scheduling. Please go to the Olympia School District website and choose transfers. If you have any questions please reach out to our Registrar Sarah Sadlemyer at [email protected]
