Community Connections

The Olympia Education Foundation continues its student and family well-being series for the 2024-2025 school year.  The first presentation: Becoming a Neurodiversity  Affirming Caregiver is November 19, 2024 (6-7:30 pm).  This will be a virtual event, please Click Here to get the link.  

 

2024-25 Free and Reduced Lunch Applications

OSD free and reduced lunch applications are now available to complete in Skyward Family Access.  Please click HERE for more information.

 

Library News

The CHS Book Club’s Book Drive Blitz is happening now.  Please bring children’s and young adult books with little to no damage to help fill the kiddie pool in the library by Nov 5th.  All donations go to the South Sound Reading Foundation. Thanks for your support!

 

Brain Train and Tutoring Information

After school tutoring provided by our CHS paraeducators is available every Wednesday in the library from 2:35-3:25 p.m.

Roman Conquest Tour

Last call for the summer 2025 Roman Conquest tour! We have a few spots remaining. Interested? Join Ms. Samson for an informational meeting Tuesday, 11/5, 6:30-7:30pm in B-5 at CHS.

 

IB Test Registration

IB Test Registration is now open and will continue until November 8th.

Students can get registration forms from IB class teachers or from the IB Coordinator, Ms. Young, in B-6 or the IB office outside of Pod A.

 

CHS Athletics Update

Girls Flag Football

CHS is excited to announce we have added Girls Flag Football to our winter sports offerings.

There will be an information meeting on Friday 11/1 during Coug Time A in D-12 to meet the new coaches and find out about Capital’s newest sport.

 

Winter Sports Registration

We are excited to announce our new sports registration platform Final Forms.

Please follow the following steps when registering your student:

  • Parents/Guardians along with your student, register at: https://olympia-wa.finalforms.com/ and follow the prompts to create your account.  You and your student must sign the forms.
  • Upload a current sport physical to the portal.
  • Once you submit the registration go to the OSD Payment Portal.
  • Payment for all sports is $125 plus an ASB payment of $40 which is all required at the time of registering your student for a sport (except Boys Basketball).  ASB is purchased once a year. Both fees are waived for free and reduced students.

Please make your payment using the OSD Payment Portal, https://wa-olympia.intouchreceipting.com

  • Your student is not considered “cleared” until you receive a confirmation email from Final Forms, signed by Athletic Secretary, Kathy Cognasso.  

Bowlers must be registered by November 4, 8:00 am.

Gymnasts must be registered by November 12, 8:00 am

All other sports must be registered by November 18, 8:00 am

Thanksgiving Break Food Support

Capital High School is partnering with 4 the Love Foundation to provide extra food support for families  in need during the November break.

If this would be helpful to your family, please complete the Google form: Thanksgiving break food support   OR contact Kim Senger, School Social Worker at Capital High School: 360-239-7413, [email protected]

The deadline for requests: November 4th, 2024 by 4 pm.

 

News from the CCRC (Career and College Readiness Center)

RUNNING START SENIOR STUDENTS: If you are planning to attend a four year college Fall 2025-you must meet with your CHS counselor AS SOON AS POSSIBLE and set up an appointment with Mrs. Smith in the CCRC to assist you with your SCHOOLINKS set up. SCHOOLINKS is the way our school communicates with colleges (Teacher and Counselor Recommendations are requested through SchooLinks) Please Read your emails and set up appointments ASAP. Deadlines are approaching fast. You don't want to miss them.

ALL SENIOR STUDENTS: If you missed Mrs. Smith's presentation in your classes-you should stop by the CCRC to make sure you are on the right track with College Applications and HSBP information. DEADLINES for Colleges are Approaching.

  • The High School and Beyond Plan is a Washington State Graduation Requirement. You must complete your To Do list in SchooLinks-as this is the platform we are using now. Every grade has tasks in their To Do list to complete annually. If you have questions, please talk with Mrs. Smith in the CCRC.

  • There are many events that the CCRC Hosts: Please review the new ones for November and December. There will be more in the coming weeks. Make sure you read this newsletter and listen to daily announcements to know what is available to you.
