Olympia Schools Supportive Education Council (OSSEC)

Do you have a student receiving support through an IEP or 504 plan? Please join the newly restructured Olympia Schools Supportive Education Council (OSSEC) on the third Wednesday of the month throughout the school year for resources, community building, and a welcomin space to share ideas!  OSSEC is similar to a PTA/PTO for families, students, and staff supporting OSD students with disabilities from birth through post-high school, but without any fundraising or volunteering requirements usually associated with a PTO. We have planned a mix of social events and informative meetings, including a parenting class for caregivers with unique needs and situations, a resource fair event with community partners, a sensory-friendly family movie night, and more!  Our next meeting is an in-person fall social on Wednesday, November 16 from 6-7:30 p.m. at Olympia Regional Learning Academy (ORLA), 2400 15 th Ave. S.E. Olympia, WA 98501.  Childcare/student care will be provided for students and siblings. Please email [email protected] with any questions, follow us on Facebook, and join our email list here to get monthly meeting reminders.

CHS Annual Giving Tree

For the past 14 years, the staff, students and community of Capital High School have spread holiday cheer to those less fortunate through the CHS Giving Tree. Your donations go towards the purchase of gift cards for deserving CHS students just in time for the holidays.

Too many CHS students are struggling to meet even their most basic needs. It is a blessing to let these students know that they are seen and cared for by doing a little special something for them during a tough time in their lives. For some, this may be the only gift they receive this year. We could not do this without the support of our staff, students and community members. We have found over the years that the best way to gift these students is with a $25 gift card selected especially for them. This way, they can truly get the gift they have been wanting or something they need.

Annually we serve approximately 250 students through the Giving Tree. Each year the need seems to rise - from the pandemic to increases in the cost of living, from utilities to gasoline - and this year is no exception for our families. What we've learned is that having a visible website to collect donations for the CHS Giving Tree is the most convenient solution, allowing us to quickly and fully provide to our CHS students. 100% of your donation will go to CHS students in need.

If you have any questions regarding the CHS Giving Tree, please contact Janet Anderson, CHS Counseling Office, at [email protected]

We will gladly accept donations at:https://givebutter.com/chsgt22   This donation link is sponsored by the CHS Parent Organization.  We thank you for all your generous support during this Holiday Season.
