Japanese 1 class:
This course is for beginners, students with very little or no previous experience with Japanese. This course will provide you with a basic knowledge of Japanese through the practice of speaking, listening comprehension, reading, writing and kanji, as well as work with cultural materials. In Japanese 1, we place emphasis on speaking, listening, writing comes later in the semester, and some reading. Class will be conducted in Japanese as much as possible along with numerous classroom activities. The first trimester, students will master reading and writing Hiragana letters. There are 46 symbols. The second trimester, students will master Katakana --- same sound as Hiragana, different letters. The third trimester, students will learn easy kanji, Chinese character.
The name of Japanese 1 book is called Adventure Japanese. This book contains many activities after each lesson which the students can do. We will be doing these activities in class also.
