Lesson:  Sample an area to clone

 

  1. Click the Fruit and Vegetables layer on the Layers panel
  2. Click the Zoom tool on the Application bar
  3. Click the center of the far-left tomato with the Zoom pointer until the zoom factor is 300% so you can clearly see the fly
  4. Click the Clone Stamp tool on the Tools panel
  5. Click the Click to open the Brush Preset picker list arrow on the options bar, then double-click the Hard Round 13 pixels brush tip
  6. Verify that the Opacity setting on the options bar is 100%
  7. Position the Brush pointer at approximately 60X / 400Y
  8. Press ALT, click once, then release ALT - the sample is collected and ready to be applied to the fly

Summary:  You selected the Fruit and Vegetables layer, set the zoom percentage, selected a brush tip for the Clone Stamp tool, and sampled an undamaged portion of the tomato.

 

Use the Clone Stamp tool to fix an imperfection

 

  1. Position the Brush pointer directly over the fly
  2. Click the fly - select a different brush if your brush is too small or too large, and then reapply the stamp
  3. Click the Zoom tool on the Application bar
  4. Press and hold ALT, click the center of the tomato with the Zoom pointer until the zoom factor is 100%, then release ALT
  5. Save your work

Summary:  You fixed the damaged area of the tomato by covering up the fly.
