Part 1:  Tab Review

Work with Tabs

  1. Open ID 9-4.indd, then save it as Tab Review
  2. Click the Selection tool, click the text frame that contains the data, click Object (on the Application bar), then click Text Frame Options
  3. In the Inset Spacing section, type .3 in the Top text box, type .3 in the Left text box, then click OK
  4. Click the type tool, then select all of the text
  5. Click Type on the Application bar, then click Tabs
  6. Click the Left-Justified Tab button in the Tabs dialog box
  7. Position the pointer in the white space in the top third of the ruler---just above the numbers then click and drag until the X text box reads 1 in.
  8. Using the same method, create a new tab at 2.25”
  9. Click anywhere to the right of the second tab to add a third tab
  10. Select the measurement in the X text box, type 3, then press [Enter]
  11. Click the Type tool pointer to the left of the first # sign in the first line of text, then press [Tab]
  12. 12.Click the Type tool pointer to the left of the second # sign, then press [Tab]
  13. Click the type tool pointer to the left of the word Profit, then press [Tab]
  14. Using the same tabs, tab the numbers on the next four lines
    (Hint:  Be sure to click to the immediate left of each number before pressing [Tab])
  15. Select all of the text, click Object (on the Application bar), click Text Frame Options, change the Left inset to .5, then click OK
  16. Click the Position Panel above Text Frame button in the Tabs dialog box
  17. Select only the bottom four rows of text
  18. Click the first left-justified tab at  1” in the tab ruler to select it
  19. Type 1.4 in the X text box, then press [Enter]
  20. Click the second left-justified tab at 2.25” in the tab ruler to select it
  21. Type 2.5 in the X text box, then press [Enter]
  22. Click the align to Decimal tab button in the Tabs dialog box
  23. Click the third left-justified tab at 3” in the tab ruler to select it
  24. Click the Align to Decimal Tab button in the Tabs dialog box
  25. Type 3.2 in the X text box, then press [Enter]
  26. With the four rows of text still selected, click the first tab in the tab ruler to highlight it
  27. In the Leader text box, type a period followed by a space, then press [Enter]
  28. Click the second tab in the tab ruler to highlight it
  29. In the Deader text box, type a period followed by a space, then press [Enter]
  30. 30 Click the third tab in the tab ruler to highlight it
  31. 31. In the Leader text box, type a period followed by a space, then press [Enter]
  32. 32. Select all of the text, click the paragraph panel list arrow, then click Paragraph rules
  33. 33. Click the list arrow at the top of the dialog box, click Rule Below, then click the Rule On check box
  34. 34. Choose the following settings to define the rule, then click OK:
    Rule Above
    Rule On
    Weight:  1 pt.
    Color:  Gold (or whatever color you want)
    Width:  Column
    Left Indent:  0 in.
    Tint:  100%
    Offset:  0.1 in.
    Right Indent:  0.55 in.
  35. Deselect all, close the Tabs dialog box
  36. Save your work, then close Tab Review

 

Part 2:  Table Review

Create and Format a Table
