Lesson:  Colorize a grayscale image

  1.  Open ID 8-2.indd from the server folder
  2. Save it as ID_C8_SR_Old Photo (your username) to your server folder
  3. Click the Selection tool, then select the graphics frame
  4. Make sure the Fill button is selected on the Tools panel, then click Mustard on the Swatches panel
  5. Click the Tint list arrow on the Swatches panel, then drag the slider to 70%
  6. Click the Direct Selection tool, then select the graphic
  7. Click Plum on the Swatches panel

 

Lesson:  Work with opacity and feathering

  1. Make the Rectangles layer visible, click the Selection tool, then select the green rectangle
  2. Click the Opacity list arrow on the Effects panel, then drag the slider to 50%
  3. Select the red rectangle, click the Opacity list arrow, then drag the slider to 30%
  4. Make the Ovals layer visible, click the Selection tool, then select the left oval
  5. Click Object (on the Application bar), point to Effects, then click Basic Feather
  6. Type .25 in the Feather Width text box, then click OK
  7. Select the right oval, then repeat Steps 5 and 6

 

Lesson:  Work with blending modes

  1. Select the green rectangle
  2. Click the Blending mode list arrow (on the Effects panel), then choose Overlay
  3. Select the red rectangle
  4. Click the Blending mode list arrow (on the Effects panel), then choose Multiply
  5. Make the Black Box layer visible, click the Selection tool, then select the black frame
  6. Click the Opacity list arrow (on the Effects panel), then drag the slider to 45%
  7. Select both blue ovals, change the blending mode to Screen, then deselect all

 

Lesson:  Apply transparency to placed graphics

  1. Select the left oval, then place the file named Old Photo.psd
  2. Click the Direct Selection tool, select the graphic, click Edit (on the Application bar), then click Copy
  3. Select the right oval with the Direct Selection tool
  4. Click Edit (on the Application bar), click Paste Into, then using the Hand tool, drag the image to the right until the picture of the woman fills the oval on the right as shown in the sample
  5. Click the Selection tool, then select the left oval
  6. Click the Blending mode list arrow (on the Effects panel), then choose Hard Light
  7. Change the blending mode to Luminosity, then save your work
  8. Deselect all
  9. Create a PDF file
  10. Close Old Photo
  11. Post the files to the Hulk server
