WC.Project Builder 1.A3

The Ultimate Tours travel company has asked you to design a sample navigation scheme for its website.  The company wants to see how its home page will link with one of its main categories (Treks).  Using the home page in Assignment 2 as a guide, you will add a Treks screen and link it to the home page.
[Hint:  Remember that all of the drawings on the home page should be on frame 1]

Sample Completed Project Builder 1.A3 - Treks page

  • Open ultimatetours2 from Assignment 2, then save it as ultimatetours3
  • Insert a layer above the Subheading layer and name it "logo"
  • Import the UTLogo.jpg file from the Flash/Web Collection/Chapter 3 folder on the server to the Library panel
  • Select frame 1 on the logo layer and drag the logo image to the upper-left corner of the Stage
  • Select the logo and convert it to a graphic symbol with the name "g_utlogo"
  • Lock the logo layer
  • Select the layer that the Ultimate Tours text block is on, then insert a keyframe on a frame at least five frames farther along the timeline
  • Insert a new layer, name it "treks headings," insert a keyframe on the last frame of the movie, then create the Treks screen shown in the sample above, except for the "home" graphic
[Note:  The underline was created using the Line tool]
  • Convert the Treks graphic on the home page (frame 1) to a button symbol named "b_treks," then edit the symbol so that different colors appear for the different states
  • Assign a "goto" action that jumps the playhead to the Treks screen when the Treks button is clicked
[Hint:  Using ScriptAssist, point to "Global Functions," point to "Timeline Control," click "goto," then verify that the Frame # to jump to (which would be the frame the Treks screen is on) is specified]
[Hint:  You need to use ActionScript 2.0 to complete the steps that follow - you can set the ActionScript version by selecting Publish Settings from the File menu, clicking the Flash tab and specifying ActionScript 2.0]
  • Insert a new layer and name it "stopmovie," using Script Assist add stop actions that cause the movie to stop after displaying the home page and after displaying the Treks page - make sure there is a keyframe in the last frame of the stopmovie layer
  • Insert a new layer and name it "homeButton," insert a keyframe on the last frame of the movie, then draw the home button image with the "Home" text
  • Convert the image to a button symbol named "b_home," then edit the symbol so that different colors appear for the different states - assign a "goto" action for the button that jumps the movie to frame 1 [Hint:  See steps above]
  • Select the last frame of the movie on the logo layer and insert a keyframe
[Note:  You do this so that the logo appears on the home page and on the Treks page]
  • Compare your movie to the Sample Completed Project Builder 1.A3 above
  • Save your work in your folder and the "Assignment" folder for your class period
