Add Sound

 

OBJECTIVE:

In this lesson, you will add sound to an animation.

 

Lesson:  Add sound to a movie

  1. Open fl5_2.fla from the Digital Design folder on the server
  2. Save it to your server folder as Fl_C5_L2_rallySnd_your username
  3. Play the movie and notice that there is no sound
  4. Click the stopmovie layer, insert a new layer, then name it carSnd
  5. Insert a keyframe in frame 72 on the carSnd layer
  6. Click File on the menu bar, point to Import, then click Import to Library
  7. Use the Import to Library dialog box to navigate to the Digital Design folder on the server, click the CarSnd.wav file, then click Open
  8. Display the Library Panel
  9. Click frame 72 on the CarSnd layer
  10. Drag the CarSnd sound symbol to the Stage – after releasing the mouse button, notice the wave pattern that has been placed on the carSnd layer starting in frame 72
    [TIP:  The wave pattern may not appear on the layer until the movie is played one time]
  11. Click Control on the menu bar, then click Test Movie
  12. Click the Click to continue button to test the sound
  13. Close the Flash Player window

Summary:  You imported a sound and added it to a movie.

 

Lesson:  Add sound to a button

  1. Click frame 71 on the carSnd layer
  2. Click the Selection tool on the Tools panel, drag a marquee around “Click to continue” to select the button, then double-click the selection to display the button’s Timeline
  3. Insert a new layer above Layer 1, then name it sound
  4. Click the Down frame on the sound layer, click Insert on the menu bar, point to Timeline, then click Blank Keyframe
  5. Click File on the menu bar, point to Import, then click Import to Library
  6. Use the Import to Library dialog box to navigate to the Digital Design folder on the server, click the beep.wav file, then click Open
  7. Display the Properties panel, click the Name list arrow in the SOUND area, then click beep.wav
  8. Click the Sync list arrow in the Properties panel, click Event
  9. Click Scene 1 on the upper left of the edit window title bar to display the main Timeline
  10. Test the movie
  11. Click the Click to continue button and listen to the sounds, then close the Flash Player window
  12. Save your work, then close the movie

Summary:  You added a sound layer to a button, imported a sound, then attached the sound to the button.
