H20

History of the Twentieth Century (H20) is an International Baccalaureate (IB) course. The intent of the course is to prepare students to meet the IB requirements for Higher Level History. These requirements include taking the Paper 1 and Paper 2 exams. The course is also a college preparation class with emphasis on 20th Century world history content, writing papers, and engaging in historiographical thinking and communication. H20 meets the senior social studies requirement but differs from the regular senior course content which includes a semester of Psych/Soc and a semester of Current World Problems and Economics. The IB guideline for H20 is to cover causes, practices and effects of international conflict; rise and rule of single party states; and the Cold War. This course covers content from WWI and WWII, the Russian Revolution, Stalin, Hitler and Mao, and the Cold War.
