District Tech Plan has Been Approved by OSPI

District is Planning to Implement the State Tech Standards

  • Technology Standards
  • High schools will begin planning during the 2010-11 year for strategies and activities for implementing the standards within multiple classrooms for 2011-12

Title IID Funding Reduced

  • Budget has been cut by about 2/3 from 2010 for 2011 for visitation to the NCCE Conference
  • Discussion about cost and benefit of the conference ensued
  • Strategies were offered to bring ideas back to the district to help integrate great tech tools into curricular process

Tech Levy Projects

  • Construction at CHS has been large draw on Capital Projects money
  • Some of the technology projects will be delayed to later in December when funding will be available

Building Level Technology Allocation

  • Building level decision making based on school improvement building level and technology integration plan will influence allocation
  • Discussion of January funding of the best practices of technology
  • Equity of access to technology for all schools was discussed
  • Potential community service opportunity for students to mentor grade school students and teachers was offered as a support option

6 Hours of Tech Training for Next Year

  • Training vs. staff development was discussed
  • Do we have a cut off date for the training to be used?
    • The idea of rolling over funds was put forward
  • Putting on a conference as a potential option for tech integration ideas showcase was presented
  • Atomic Learning online for staff development could be a way for staff to get skills training
  • Time to learn is a big deal, staff need time to work concepts
  • More people than just the tech committee should offer input on how the training is spent and rolled over
