News and Dates

Week of September 21 - 25:

First Navigation Advisory of the school year: Wednesday, September 23! If you are an incoming freshman or a student new to Capital High School, please bring a 3-ring binder to advisory. You will begin developing your High School and Beyond Plan; a graduation requirement.

Week of October 5 - 9:

Counselors will be meeting with 9th grade students in small groups. The students will meet with their counselor, tour the Counseling Center, learn how to sign up for an appointment, and visit the Career Center.

Week of Oct 26 - November 5:

9th grade students will be meeting with the counselors for a two-day program on Career Exploration. The classes will be held in Career Center and in the Computer Lab. This will introduce students to the idea of what happens after they complete high school; what options are available, what steps they can begin to take toward their goals, and what part personal interests/skills play in developing a successful career. Students will be participating in this program during their Health and 9th Grade PE class time. Lessons completed in the program will be included in their Navigation/Advisory binder. These activities are part of their High School & Beyond Plan, a graduation requirement in the state of Washington.

Thursday, October 29:

This is the next scheduled Navigation/Advisory day. Advisory is scheduled between 2nd and 3rd periods. The period is 30 minutes long. If your students does not have a binder for their class, please bring one in today! A 1-1/2 inch binder enables the students to gather all of the information/projects needed to meet their High School & Beyond graduation requirement. Dividers are supplied.
