Weekly Activities Schedule

Week 12 (Nov.20-21)

  • Mon: Finish Melody Recording Project
    • Warm Up

      • Review Melodies
      • Remind about My Second Melody part of blog post
    • WEDO
      • Give feedback to each other about raising and releasing tension
    • YOUDO
      • Include under the My Second Melody heading
        • A  screenshot of the notation; uploaded to Flickr and embedded into your blog post
        • The exported theme as an MP3 file; uploaded to Soundcloud and embedded into your post
        • An explanation about how you composed your period of music by answering the questions below (use compositional terms in your answer):
          • Explain your musical structure choices for each musical phrase: Antecedent (Question) Phrase (first 4 measures) and the Consequent (Answer) Phrase (last 4 measures)?
            • Identify what key you composed in (should be the key of C major)
            • Identify the tonic notes (first and last notes) (should be the note C)
            • Identify where you built tension and what notes they are: dominant, subdominant, etc., (should be measures 4 and/or 5)
            • Identify using Contrast, Repetition, and/or Variation.
              • Which measures?
            • Did you use inversion, retrograde, or retrograde-inversion?
              • Where?
          • Remember you are writing for an audience that was not in the class, so explain your melodic choices

      • Set or update a goal that you want to track through your hero's journey for this school year (AKA: your stretch goal)

        • You DO NOT need to make the citation slide right now
        • DO NOT start making the presentation. We will do this together next week

      1. Watch the video tutorial: Searching The Creative Commons
      2. Download at least 6 images through Search.CreativeCommons.org for your presentation
      3. Name each image with the four pieces of information needed for the citation. This will help you remember these four pieces of information later when you are creating your Work Cited slide.

      4. REMINDER: You need to cite any material that is not yours, whether it is in the Creative Commons or copy written. The difference between the two is that you can NEVER use copy written material with FIRST getting permission FROM the creator.  So, always use Creative Commons images because the creators HAVE given you permission to use their material when they published it, AS LONG AS YOU CITE THEM.
