Pre-Interview Checklist
- Go to bed early the night before and get a good night’s sleep
- Get up early and give yourself plenty of time to get ready and travel to appointment
- Shower or bathe
- Be sure and wash your hair
- Scrub and trim your nails
- Use deodorant
- Brush teeth and use mouthwash
- Men, shave thoroughly
- Women, if you wear make-up, wear a light, natural looking make-up and apply conservatively (nothing flashy, for example, do not wear bright blue eye shadow)
- Make sure your hair is neatly combed
- Do not use strong perfumes or colognes
- Make sure your clothes are clean and newly pressed, and your shoes are clean and shined
- Choose proper professional looking clothes and shoes
- Do not wear loud colors or flashy fashions
- Choose conservative colors; navy, black, grey or brown are preferred
- Do not wear excessive jewelry (examples: bangle bracelets or large glittery earrings)
- Do not bring anyone with you to the interview
- Bring your resume with you
- Bring your separate reference sheet listing the names, addresses, and phone numbers of at least three of your references
- Bring a new notebook and a pen
- Write the company name, the manager's or interviewer's name, title and department, and the company address and phone number in the notebook
- Bring your social security card
- Bring money for gas, public transportation, and telephone
- Arrive 15 minutes before the interview time
- If, for any reason, you are going to be late, call immediately
