Career Cruising: Access and Information
Career Cruising is an online tool available to CHS students through their username and password. Career Cruising offers information under the following criteria: Assessments, Careers, Schools, and Employment. Read the tabs below for specific descriptions of each category. Each of these sections can be accessed from Career Cruising’s Main page, or by clicking on the appropriate button on the menu bar that appears at the top of every page in the program. Save EVERTYHING to your Portfoilo!

Assessments: This category allows you to take four different tests that will assess your abilities and help find the career best suited to you. These tests include the Career Matchmaker, a Skills Assessment, an Ability Profiler, and a Learning Styles inventory. The Career Matchmaker will give you a list of careers that may be best suited to you after answering a series of questions. The Skills Assessment takes your skills and matches them up with potential careers that often involve the skills you listed. The Ability Profiler allows you to assess what abilities you have, and see how those abilities match up with your desired career. Lastly, the Learning Styles Inventory allows you to learn what kind of learning allows you to best retain information in order to improve your study habits.
Careers: The Careers tab allows you to search Career Cruising’s wide database of information involving the world of work. You can search for careers under the following categories: alphabetically, by school subject, by general occupation, military careers, and under the general industry in which your desired career may reside. You can also select the “Career Selector” option which will match you up to careers that will best suit you according to your profile.
Schools: The Schools category has an excellent database of schools that may interest you. You can search for schools by the following categories: alphabetically, by specialized programs, through criteria that is important to you via the School Selector, and by financial aid plans. The Schools option also lets you compare schools side by side to see which appeals to you more.
Employment: This category is to help you build your resume and land a job that’s right for you. You can research several different things on this page, including interview skills, job offers, how to write letters, and finally a Portfolio option that will help you create a professional resume for your next job interview.
