Regional Cinema Contest Announced

  • We have finally developed the contest criteria for both the Digital Cinema.
  • Held on Saturday, January 28th - at the North Olympic Peninsula Skills Center in Port Angeles, WA.
  • The Digital Cinema Contest will begin at 12PM and will end at 5PM.
    • In this short amount of time, students will create a Spec Trailer for an original film concept (max 2 mins).
    • Instead of having a written exam (like the national contest has), students will be required to turn in a pitch treatment for the original film concept (matching the trailer) and resume by the deadline.
  • Read the Digital Cinema SkillsUSA Contest Details (PDF)
  • A panel of 10 judges from the Clallam County community will be present throughout the competition to assess each team's work.
  • Each member of the judging panel is an industry professional with extensive backgrounds in film, television, broadcast journalism, marketing and/or photography/videography.
  • The parameters for the competition was developed based on the national standards released on Nov. 1st (just slightly scaled back to fit a regional competition setting).
  • An average score from our judging panel will be determined for each team and the results will be submitted the following day - allowing the announcement to be made at the Regional Leadership Conference in February.
